Straight answers, no jargon
Everything customers actually ask, organized. If it's not here, the chat reaches a real person on the dispatch desk.
Pricing & booking
What factors affect how much my shipment costs?
Five things move the price: distance, your vehicle's size and weight, open versus enclosed transport, the season, and how accessible your pickup and delivery points are. Whether the car runs matters too. A quote weighs all of these together, which is why a real estimate beats a generic per-mile guess.
Why is one quote so much cheaper than all the others?
Usually because it isn't real. A price below the going carrier rate for your lane won't attract a driver, so the shipment sits unassigned or comes back "adjusted" later. A believable quote reflects what carriers actually charge to run your route right now.
How and when do I pay the balance?
The broker fee goes on your card when a carrier is assigned. The remaining balance is paid directly to the driver at delivery, by cash, Zelle, or certified funds. You'll know both amounts before you commit, so nothing at delivery is a surprise.
Can I get a price using only ZIP codes?
Yes. Your pickup and delivery ZIP codes are enough for an exact, lockable price. Full street addresses are only needed shortly before pickup, so the driver can plan access. You don't need to finalize addresses to see real numbers.
How far ahead should I book to get the best rate?
About 5 to 7 days ahead is the sweet spot for standard routes. Snowbird season is southbound in October and November, northbound in March and April. These book up faster, so aim for 2 to 3 weeks out to beat the seasonal surge.
What payment methods do you accept?
The broker fee is charged to a credit or debit card once your carrier is assigned. The balance is paid to the driver at delivery by cash, Zelle, or certified funds. We don't ask for large cash deposits before a carrier is booked.
Are there fuel surcharges or other hidden fees?
Your quote is the price. The only add-ons are named up front: a flat $150 winch fee for non-running vehicles, and a flat $200 expedited-pickup fee if you choose it. There are no surprise fuel surcharges layered on at delivery.
Do prices go up during peak season?
Yes. Rates rise when demand does, especially on snowbird routes in fall and spring and around major moving periods. Booking earlier in a busy window usually locks a better rate. Your quote reflects current conditions on your specific lane.
Do you offer military, student, or multi-car discounts?
Yes. We offer discounts for military members, students, and multi-car shipments. If you qualify for more than one, or you're moving several vehicles together, tell your coordinator when you request a quote and we'll apply what fits your booking.
How long does my locked price stay valid?
Your quoted price stays locked for 14 days. Within that window, rescheduling or canceling before dispatch doesn't change your rate. If you book outside that window, we refresh the quote against current carrier rates on your route.
Pickup & delivery
How is my pickup scheduled once I book?
Once a carrier is assigned, dispatch confirms the pickup window, and your driver calls at least 24 hours ahead to set a time that works for you. You don't chase the driver, the coordinator and dispatch line up the details.
Does someone need to be present at pickup and delivery?
Yes. You, or anyone 18 or older you authorize, needs to be there to sign the Bill of Lading and walk the inspection at both ends. It takes a few minutes each time and protects you if there's ever a condition dispute.
What does "first available pickup date" mean?
It's the earliest day your car is ready to go, not a guaranteed pickup day. Most pickups happen within 1 to 3 business days of that date, once a carrier running your lane is assigned. Giving an earlier ready date widens your options.
Can I get expedited or guaranteed pickup?
Yes. For a flat $200, we secure a 24 to 48 hour carrier commitment on major corridors. If we miss that window, you don't pay the expedite fee. On remote routes, expedited pickup may not be available, and your coordinator will tell you honestly.
What happens if the truck can't reach my street?
Full-size car haulers can't fit down some narrow streets, low-clearance areas, or tight developments. If yours is one, the driver arranges to meet you at a nearby wide, safe spot such as a large parking lot. You agree on the location when they call ahead.
How much notice will the driver give before arriving?
Your driver calls at least 24 hours before pickup, and again ahead of delivery, to confirm timing. That gives you a clear heads-up rather than a vague all-day wait. Your coordinator can also text you status whenever you ask.
Can I ship to or from someone else's address?
Yes. A friend, family member, dealer, or coworker can hand over or receive the vehicle, as long as they're 18 or older and can sign the Bill of Lading and do the inspection. Just give your coordinator their name and contact details in advance.
What do I need to hand over to the driver at pickup?
The keys, and a car that's prepped and accessible. You don't need the title to ship domestically. You and the driver inspect the vehicle together and both sign the Bill of Lading recording its condition before it loads.
Can I change my delivery address after pickup?
Sometimes, but tell your coordinator as early as possible. A new delivery point can change the route, distance, and price, and the driver has to be able to reach it. We'll confirm whether the change is workable before anything is finalized.
What happens if no one is available at delivery?
Delivery needs an authorized adult present to inspect and sign. If your timing is uncertain, name a backup person 18 or older ahead of time. Leaving delivery with no one available can lead to storage fees or a re-delivery attempt, so coordinate early.
Insurance & claims
What does the carrier's cargo insurance actually cover?
It covers physical damage to your vehicle that happens while it's in the carrier's care during transport. We verify each carrier's active cargo policy before dispatch and send it to you in writing. It does not cover personal items left inside the car.
How much cargo coverage does the carrier carry?
Coverage limits vary by carrier, typically running $100,000 to $250,000. We verify the assigned carrier's active cargo policy before dispatch and send it to you in writing, so you can see the exact limit on your shipment before your car is picked up.
What is a Bill of Lading and why does it matter?
The Bill of Lading is the legal document that records your car's condition, with photos, at pickup and at delivery. It's your proof if you ever need to file a claim. Inspect the car and check the form carefully before signing at each end.
What should I do if my car arrives damaged?
Note the damage on the Bill of Lading before you sign, photograph it clearly, and tell your coordinator the same day. Those three steps preserve your claim. It's then filed against the carrier's cargo policy, and your coordinator helps you through it.
Are my personal items covered during transport?
No. Cargo insurance covers the vehicle, not its contents. That's why we cap personal items at 100 pounds and ask you to keep anything valuable or irreplaceable with you. Items left in the car travel at your own risk.
Do I need my own insurance to ship my car?
Your car is covered by the carrier's cargo insurance during transport, so you don't need to buy extra coverage for the move. Keeping your own auto policy active is still wise, since it applies again the moment the car is back in your hands.
How do I file a damage claim, and with whom?
You file against the assigned carrier's cargo insurance policy, and your coordinator walks you through it. The claim rests on your Bill of Lading notes and the photos from delivery, which is why documenting any damage before you sign matters so much.
How long do I have to report transport damage?
Report it the same day, at delivery. Damage must be written on the Bill of Lading before you sign and photographed on the spot. Signing a clean Bill of Lading and raising damage days later makes a claim very hard to support.
Will you send me proof of the carrier's insurance?
Yes. We verify the assigned carrier's active cargo policy before your car is dispatched and send you the confirmation in writing. You'll have it in hand before pickup, not promised after the fact.
Is a classic or high-value car covered for its full value?
tandard cargo insurance may not cover the full value of a collector or exotic vehicle, and full or agreed-value coverage depends on the carrier's policy, so confirm it before shipping. For anything irreplaceable, raise it with your coordinator up front so the right carrier and coverage are arranged.
Vehicles & preparation
What types of vehicles can you transport?
Cars, SUVs, pickups including lifted and dually trucks, motorcycles, classics, exotics, and non-running vehicles that still roll, brake, and steer. If you're unsure yours qualifies or needs special handling, tell your coordinator and we'll match it to the right carrier and equipment.
How do I prepare my car for shipping?
Leave a quarter tank of fuel or less, remove toll tags and loose accessories, fold in the mirrors if they don't auto-fold, note any existing damage yourself, and turn the alarm off. A quick wash beforehand makes the pickup inspection easier and more accurate.
Can I leave personal items in the car?
Up to 100 pounds, kept in the trunk or below the window line. Personal items aren't covered by cargo insurance, so keep valuables, documents, and anything irreplaceable with you. Extra weight can also affect the carrier, so pack light.
How much fuel should be in the tank?
A quarter tank or less. That's enough to load, move, and unload the car without the added weight and risk of a full tank. It's one of the simplest prep steps and applies to nearly every vehicle we ship.
Can you ship a financed or leased vehicle?
Yes. You don't need the title to ship domestically. Just the keys and the right to move the car. Some lenders or lease agreements have their own rules, so if you're unsure, a quick check with them before booking avoids surprises.
Do you transport motorcycles, ATVs, or off-road vehicles?
Yes. Motorcycles and off-road vehicles ship regularly, often on enclosed carriers for extra protection given how exposed they are. They need proper tie-down points and sometimes crating, so tell your coordinator the make and model to arrange the right setup.
Can you ship oversized or lifted trucks?
Yes. Lifted trucks, duallies, and oversized vehicles ship, but they take up more deck space and weight allowance, which affects pricing and which carriers can take them. Share the height and any modifications when you request a quote so the match is accurate.
Do you handle classic, exotic, or high-value cars?
Yes, and these usually travel enclosed to shield them from weather and road debris. Full-value coverage may require special arrangements. So, check the insurance section. Non-running classics can still ship as long as they roll, brake, and steer.
What paperwork do I need to ship my car?
For domestic shipping, very little: a government photo ID and the keys. You don't need the title in hand. You'll sign the Bill of Lading at pickup and delivery, and that's the main document for the move.
Can you ship an electric vehicle?
Yes. EVs ship on the same open and enclosed carriers as other cars. Charge it to roughly a quarter of the battery, disable any transport or valet mode per your manual, and tell your coordinator the model, since EV weight can affect carrier matching.
Company & trust
What's the difference between a marketplace broker and a managed service?
On a marketplace, carriers bid on your shipment publicly and you sort through them. As a managed service, Broadway selects and verifies the carrier, holds your pricing, and assigns one coordinator to your move, so you deal with us, not a bidding crowd.
Is Broadway licensed and registered?
Yes. Broadway is an FMCSA-registered broker, USDOT 3990000, MC 1496533. You can look both numbers up yourself on the FMCSA SAFER system to confirm our authority and standing before you book.
How do you vet and choose carriers?
We select from licensed, insured motor carriers and verify each one's active cargo insurance before dispatch. Rather than handing your car to whoever bids lowest, we match your route to a carrier who runs that lane and meets our requirements.
How do I avoid auto transport scams?
Three checks: verify the company's MC number on the FMCSA SAFER site, refuse large upfront deposits before a carrier is actually assigned, and be wary of any quote far below everyone else's. A price that's too good usually can't get a driver.
How can I verify a carrier's credentials myself?
Look up the MC or DOT number on the FMCSA SAFER website, which shows a carrier's authority and insurance status. We provide the assigned carrier's details and insurance in writing before pickup, so you can check everything before your car moves.
Will I have one point of contact for my shipment?
Yes. One coordinator is assigned to your move and stays with it from booking through delivery. You're not re-explaining your shipment to a new person each call, and you have a direct line for status, changes, or questions.
How long has Broadway been in business?
Broadway Auto Transport was founded in 2022. Alongside that, what matters day to day is how we operate: FMCSA-registered, carrier cargo insurance verified before every dispatch, and one dedicated coordinator per shipment from booking through delivery
What makes Broadway different from other brokers?
Three things we hold to: $0 due at booking, a price locked for 14 days, and one coordinator per shipment with status by text and photo proof at both ends. We verify carrier insurance before dispatch rather than after.
How can I read genuine customer reviews?
You can check Broadway Auto Transport’s genuine reviews on BBB and reputable auto transport review websites like Transportvibe, Trustpilot, etc. We also publish verified reviews on our social media marketing channels. With live, authentic reviews from real customers, you can make informed decisions instead of taking our word for it.
